No Turkish Referees at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025!

UEFA has announced the referee team for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, set to take place in Switzerland from July 2 to 27. A total of 12 referees, along with assistant referees, video match officials (VAR), and support match officials, have been selected. Notably, no referees from Turkey have been included in the list.

Additionally, as part of UEFA’s collaboration with the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), Brazilian referee Edina Alves Batista, along with two assistant referees, will also officiate at the tournament.

  • Iuliana Demetrescu (Romania)
  • Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi (Italy)
  • Silvia Gasperotti (Italy)
  • Désirée Grundbacher (Switzerland)
  • Stéphanie Frappart (France)
  • Marta Huerta de Aza (Spain)
  • Frida Klarlund (Denmark)
  • Katalin Kulcsár (Hungary)
  • Ivana Martinčić (Croatia)
  • Tess Olofsson (Sweden)
  • Alina Peşu (Romania)

Each match will feature a refereeing team consisting of a referee, two assistant referees, and a fourth official. The VAR system will be operated remotely from UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

UEFA’s Managing Director for Refereeing, Roberto Rosetti, highlighted the high level of preparation for the officials, stating:

“The development of female referees makes us proud. All selected officials have passed the same fitness tests as the elite male referees. We are confident they will showcase their quality during the tournament.”
