Turkey’s National Team made a swift entry into the EURO 2024 Championship in Germany, facing their Group F opponent Georgia at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park. Backed by strong support from their fans in Germany, the national team started the first 30 minutes with a storm, being particularly effective on the left wing with Ferdi Kadıoğlu. In the 28th minute, Mert Müldür struck a superb shot from the edge of the penalty area, putting Turkey ahead 1-0, following a cross from Ferdi that the Georgian defense failed to clear.

After the goal, Georgia equalized in the 32nd minute with a goal from Georges Mikautadze, capitalizing on a momentary lapse in concentration by Turkey.

ARDA GÜLER MAKES HISTORY, SURPASSES RONALDO

Real Madrid’s star player and the national team’s key asset, Arda Güler, received the ball on the left side outside the penalty area and scored a magnificent goal to put Turkey ahead 2-1. In European Championship history, Arda Güler (19 years, 114 days) became the youngest player to score in his debut match, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s record (2004; 19 years, 128 days).

SAMET SAVES A GOAL, KEREM SEALS THE DEAL!

The final minutes of the match were breathtaking. When Georgia came close to scoring, Samet Akaydın cleared the ball with a header off the line, preventing a potential goal. Following a corner from Georgia, Kerem Aktürkoğlu seized the ball and, taking advantage of the goalkeeper being out of position, rolled the ball into the empty net in the 90+7th minute, setting the final score at 3-1.
