Fenerbahçe, UEFA Europa League Group Stage Matchday 4 clash ended in a 3-1 defeat against AZ Alkmaar. Despite creating key chances, Fenerbahçe struggled to beat goalkeeper Owusu-Oduro.
In the 19th minute, Dzeko’s header was tipped over by Owusu-Oduro. In the 28th minute, Dzeko’s shot deflected off the goalkeeper but was cleared by the defense at the last moment. In the 36th minute, Dzeko’s close-range attempt was once again denied by Owusu-Oduro.
AZ Alkmaar took the lead in the 59th minute with a goal from Daal. In the 61st minute, Fenerbahçe earned a penalty, but En-Nesyri’s shot was saved by Owusu-Oduro. In the 70th minute, Dzeko’s cross found En-Nesyri, who scored with a header to equalize. However, Smit (75′) and Kasius (87′) secured the victory for AZ Alkmaar.
Fenerbahçe will face Slavia Prague away in their next group stage match on Thursday, November 28.
