Galatasaray secured an important 1–0 victory over Liverpool FC in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The match, played at RAMS Park, was decided by a single goal from Mario Lemina. The midfielder found the net to give the Turkish side an early lead, which Galatasaray managed to protect with a disciplined defensive performance throughout the match.
Having also defeated Liverpool 1–0 at home during the group stage earlier this season, Galatasaray once again made the most of their home advantage against the Premier League champions.
With this result, the Istanbul club takes a narrow but valuable advantage into the second leg, which will be played at Liverpool’s home ground. The winner of the tie will advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League
