Turkey’s national team made history in Hamburg. Competing in Group F of the EURO 2024 European Championship, Turkey faced off against Czechia in the final match of the group stage. Dominating the match from start to finish, Turkey secured a 2-1 victory with goals from Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Cenk Tosun. Turkish fans from across Europe turned Hamburg into a red-and-white carnival.

By defeating Czechia 2-1 in their final group match, Turkey secured a spot in the Round of 16 in the EURO 2024 European Championship. The Crescent-Stars will face Austria on Tuesday, July 2nd, at 21:00 in Leipzig.
TURKISH FANS TAKE OVER HAMBURG
Turkish fans created vibrant scenes in Hamburg, traveling from all over Europe. Fans marched from the Stellingen district to Volkspark Stadium, accompanied by the Turkish supporters’ bus, singing chants and cheering.
CZECHIA SEES RED
Czechia tried to stop Turkey’s dominant midfield play with fouls. Barak received a second yellow card and was sent off for a foul on Salih Özcan, leaving his team with 10 players.
SECOND HALF GOALS SEAL THE WIN
Starting the second half with a man advantage, Turkey’s “Our Boys” began strongly. Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored in the 51st minute, and Cenk Tosun added another in the 90+4th minute, securing a 2-1 victory. Czechia’s goal came from Soucek in the 66th minute.
REFEREE SETS CARD RECORD: 20 CARDS ISSUED
Romanian referee Kovacs made his mark on the match with his decisions, changing the course of the game by issuing a total of 18 yellow cards and 2 red cards, setting a new record for the most cards in a European Championship match.

Finishing second in Group F with 6 points, Turkey will face Group D leaders Austria in the Round of 16. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2nd, at 21:00 in Leipzig.
